Check out this beautiful interview Gabra did about having a successful career as an actress in NY:

About
Based in New York, where I grew up and built my career, I’m fortunate to work regularly in theater while maintaining a thriving career in audiobook narration. My debut published work, the Bod Squad Series, is a romantic spy caper that blends snark with a dash of heat.
I got my start in sixth grade, donning my mother’s tablecloth for a star turn in Oedipus Rex, and I’ve been hooked ever since. I studied theater at Northwestern and later attended The Shakespeare Theatre’s Academy for Classical Acting. I’ve had the privilege of performing across the country in both new plays and classics, working locally in New York theaters, and taking on a handful of TV and film roles. One of my all-time favorite gigs was Kate Hamill’s Sense and Sensibility with Bedlam off-Broadway. I spent nine years as a company member of The Hudson Valley Shakespeare Festival, playing over 18 roles and relishing the experience of performing outdoors under the stars for an audience that felt like family.
I began recording audiobooks when they were still called “books on tape,” and I’ve been in the industry for over 15 years. With over 500 audiobooks to my name, I enjoy working in all genres, particularly romance, fantasy, sci-fi, and memoir. I love the intimacy of audio storytelling; it feels like a return to old-fashioned narrative traditions. At heart, I’m a bit old-fashioned—balanced by a kick-ass, high-priestess-witch vibe.
Gabra recently narrated 'The Kidnapping I Can't Escape' for The Daily's Sunday Read, and is regularly featured on the podcast.

"With nearly 400 audiobook credits to her name, Zackman is a well-known voice in full cast audiobook productions as well as voicing best sellers and award-winners. Zackman initially got her start in narrating romance novels, but she's since performed kidlit, sci-fi, fantasy, and nonfiction. She's the recipient of multiple Earphones Awards from AudioFile, and she's also a novelist as well. (Oh, and she narrates her own books, of course!) Some of her notable performances include The Underneath by Kathi Appelt, Baby Teeth by Zoje Stage, and I'll Be Gone in the Dark by Michelle McNamara."
